Cartagena
- Cartagena is a port city and naval base with a large shipyard in the Murcia region of southeast Spain.
- There are several markets including:
- Monday and Wednesdays - general market.
- Tuesday - a flower market.
- Daily - fresh fish indoor market.
- There are a wide variety of tapas bars with a drink and small bite for under €3. There's a tapas route in the port area.
- There are many restaurants - some top quality restaurants and the clubs and nightlife keet the area bouncing.
- It's only a 5 minute drive to the La Manga club gold course - and there are many more in the Murcia region.
- Cartagena has a rich and interesting history from the Roman period with an amphitheatre. The museum is a great introduction.
- The Roman and Carthaginian festival takes place over two weeks in September. It includes: battle enactments, street parades, a roman village and much more. A definite must see.
- Local activities include: cycling, scuba diving and water sports.
